What's The Meaning of LiKE?!
Daydreaming, sitting on a kitchen stool on another sunny California day while my 3 year old played with her toys on the ground in front of me, I dreamt up the logo for LiKE. I quickly realised how unique this little idea was so I checked to see if the domain was free, and it was! I bought the domain lk.ie that day. I spent the next few years thinking about what I could do with it!
I have always greatly appreciated the Irish culture I was nurtured with and I know how others feel the same. The further I got from home the more I talked about it! When I visualised the LiKE logo that day I realised the strength in this creative visual symbol, the possibilities motivated me. I also felt that people at home might like it too and maybe even identify with the meaning of 'LiKE', and I wondered what that could do?
The LiKE logo is made up of two abbreviations, LK for Limerick, and iE for Ireland (online). I'm a closet billboard and font fan and I love to come up with all sorts of graphics and crafty ways of expressing things. So when it dawned on me that I could arrange the word 'LiKE' using LK for Limerick and iE for Ireland it was a huge 'a-ha' moment for me because I felt I could do so much with it and all based on what mattered to me the most.
LiKE is about liking yourself, liking where your from, and the fun bit, how we overuse and use the word 'like', and its funny how we understand each other all over the world when we use the word 'like' in all the wrong places grammatically, I think it like totally brings us all together like!! These 3 elements inspire and define the brand, LiKE. I thrive on blending my Irish culture into my artwork naturally and creatively and I aspire to create designs that are meaningful, playful and vibrant.

Launching this unique Irish brand has been a great personal feat and I've loved it every step of the way, the work I create is thoughtful and worthwhile and I feel that I present it in a fresh and modern way with the best quality materials I can source. Handprinting my designs on my products here in Ireland, and as sustainably as possible, is really enjoyable. The intricacies and possibilities of it all keeps me curious and keeps me going. I've always had an urge to work with my hands and to let my creative spirit flow but I have generally worked in office based admin roles for most of my adult life. Thankfully, all the admin has been useful because starting your own business isn't just about a good idea. It has taken a lot of planning to get this far. So with my crafty-ness and business sense I have managed to bring this idea close to my heart, to life. I hope you LiKE it!!
Thank you so much for stopping by and for reading this to the end! I hope you enjoy your visit and my work and come back again LiKE!

- Credit and thanks also to the Limerick Printmakers for being a hub of information to me, and for the silkscreen printing courses I did too.
